About
Established in 2016 by Kevin Plummer, Liv McLennan and Chris Cook, Sounds Better is a Community Interest Company working primarily in the South of the UK, running projects across the community and in care and educational settings. We are passionate about the power of participatory music to enable change within individuals, institutions and in relationships between people.
– people with long term health conditions (especially dementia and lung conditions)
– people with learning disabilities
– intergenerational music-making
– training other community musicians and people who wish to incorporate participatory music-making into their work.
Our ethos is about empowerment through and with music.
Our Projects
We work in London and the South with people with long term health conditions, people with learning disabilities and intergenerationally. Find out more about our past and current projects here.
Training
We are all community music practitioners alongside running Sounds Better CIC, so understand the training needs, the challenges, and the techniques that are most effective in the room better than anyone.
Volunteer
Depending on the role, we can offer training in facilitation, experience in working with people with long term health conditions and learning disability and a way to connect with your local community more.
