Music with people with dementia

Supported by the Paul and Nick Harvey Fund, the Move and Make Music project took place in Tisbury and Downton, Wiltshire, September 2021-March 2022.

We worked with several other local organisations to deliver creative music and movement sessions for people living with dementia and their supporters. We devised original songs and dances alongside using familiar music to explore people’s personal stories and memories.

The sessions have currently come to an end, but an external evaluation report, sharing the outcomes of the project will be published soon.

As part of the project, each group made a video, reflecting on the benefits. You can hear what both groups had to say below:

Our Projects

We work in London and the South with people with long term health conditions, people with learning disabilities and intergenerationally. Find out more about our past and current projects here.

Training

We are all community music practitioners alongside running Sounds Better CIC, so understand the training needs, the challenges, and the techniques that are most effective in the room better than anyone.

Volunteer

Depending on the role, we can offer training in facilitation, experience in working with people with long term health conditions and learning disability and a way to connect with your local community more.
